Connecticut concert fans can look forward to another star-studded outdoor concert season in the Summer of 2011 at many venues across the Constitution State and nearby.
The Summer concert season kicks off on Saturday, May 14 at the Comcast Theatre in Hartford (formerly known as The Meadows) with 96.5 WTIC-FM’s 96.5 All-Star Spring Fling, headlined by Daughtry, led by rocker Chris Daughtry, a fourth-place finisher on season five of American Idol.The following Friday, May 20, radio station WCCC sponsors the Big Gig 2011 with 3 Doors Down, Seether, Hinder and more.Country star Jason Aldean takes the stage on Sunday, May 22 along with Eric Church and JaneDear Girls.The two-day B.O.M.B. fest takes place on Memorial Day weekend starting at 11 am both days, with Weezer headlining on Saturday, May 28 and Snoop Dogg on Sunday, May 29.The Comcast Theatre has more country entertainment with Brad Paisley’s H2O II Tour with Paisley, Blake Shelton and Jerrod Neimann on June 4 and with Rascall Flatts’ show on August 11 with Sara Evans, Justin Moore and Eastin Corbin, and Toby Keith with Eric Church on September 16.
The Vans Warped Tour hits the Hartford venue on July 17 with nearly 30 alt-rock bands scheduled to perform.Bands change from venue to venue, but those expected to perform in Hartford include 3OH!3, Dance Gavin Dance, Go Radio and illScarlet.Metal Fans are gearing up for the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival on July 24.The annual event has been rocking America since 2008 and this year’s lineup is expected to include Disturbed, Machine Head, Suicide Silence and Trivium. Other concerts at the venue are Kid Rock on July 7, O.A.R. on August 12, Kings Of Leon on August 13, and a classic rock trio of Journey, Foreigner and Night Ranger on August 25.
At the Comcast Center (formerly the Tweeter Center) in Mansfield, Massachusetts, the season kicks off with Sugarland with Matt Nathanson and Little Big Town on May 20.Two of the biggest highlights of the summer will be the Phish concert on June 7 and Jimmy Buffett on June 18.Hit music station KISS 108 sponsors the KISS Concert 2011 on May 21 with many artists including Sean Kingston, Cody Simpson, Flo Rida, One Republic, New Boyz and more.Hip-Hop station JAMN 94.5’s Summer Jam 2011 on June 4 will be headlined by Chris Brown with sets from Fabolous, Jeremih, New Boyz, Lupe Fiasco and Waka Flocka.The venue will host some of the same shows as the Comcast Theatre, including Jason Aldean (June 5), Kid Rock (July 9), Vans Warped Tour (July 13), Mahem Festival (July 22) and Brad Paisley (July 16). Other shows include the Unity Tour on July 23 with 311 and Sublime, Maroon 5 and Train teaming up on August 13 and the Dead’s Phil Lesh and Bob Weir on July 23.Rockers Def Leppard will be joined by Heart on June 30 and Motley Crue and Poison perform on July 19.

Ives Concert Park in Danbury has eight exciting shows scheduled under the stars in the Summer of 2011, starting with the innovating Michael Franti of June 27.The July 4th holiday weekend will feature Peter Frampton on July 1, Earth Wind & Fire on July 2 and Matthew Morrison on July 3.Steely Dan takes the stage on July 25, Allison Kraus and Union Station on July 27, Guster on August 3 and the Beach Boys end the Summer season at the Ives on August 14.
Simsbury Meadows in Simsbury, CT is the home of the Talcott Mountain Music Festival Series each Summer.This year also features Manhattan Transfer on June 12 and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy on July 8.
The Newport Yachting Center in Newport, Rhode Island will host the Doobie Brothers in their farewell tour on July 29.Original members Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons are still leading the band.

Indian Ranch in Webster, Massachusetts has an awesome lineup of country and classic rock stars starting with 38 Special on June 10 and Marshall Tucker Band the following day.On June 24, Kenny Loggins visits the amphitheatre on the shores of Lake Chargoggagoggmanchaugagoggchabunagungamaug (better known as Webster Lake), with Jimmy Buffett tribute Changes In Latitudes On June 25.In July, there’s an eclectic lineup of name talent including country stars George Jones, Aaron Tippin, Colin Raye and rockers Little Feat and Grand Funk.August begins with Blue Oyster Cult then the always-exciting Phil Vassar returning on August 7, followed by Jerry Jeff Walker, Dwight Yoakam, Jo Dee Messina and Travis Tritt.The music keeps going through September with Asleep at the Wheel, Charlie Daniels Band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Lonestar and then Marty Stuart to close the season on September 24.
Reba McEntire will headline a show on the Arena Stage at the Big E in Springfield, Mass. on October 2.Other headliners have not yet been announced.On the Court of Honor stage, Frankie Lymon’s Legendary Teenagers, The Buckinghams and Yvonne Elliman will each perform twice daily for a week in free shows for fairgoers.
